About me:
Welcome to my site. I’m a Vietnam veteran (U.S. Army), a retired software engineer, and a retired electronic technician. For several years I was a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate for children), and a volunteer at a Children’s Advocacy Center. My hobbies include photography and writing. I may occasionally post some of my thoughts, concerns, comments, or opinions. I may also post some of my college essays. Hopefully they are meaningful or interesting to someone besides me. My dog Frankie (above right) is my emotional support animal and my best friend. The two dogs on the left, Sandy and Ranger, are my previous best friends and have passed away.
What is a blog?
My mother once asked me to explain what a blog is. I tried unsuccessfully to get her to understand. Wikipedia says that a blog (a truncation of “weblog”) is a discussion o informational website consisting of discrete, often informal diary-style text entries (posts). WPBeginner.com says that blogs evolved from online diaries and journals in the mid-90s. At that time, internet users were already running personal web pages where they published regular updates about their personal lives, thoughts, and social commentary. The term web log was first used during the late 90s, which later became ‘weblog’, then ‘we blog’, and finally just ‘blog’.
